The Château Grimaldi became the "Picasso Museum" on 27 December 1966. Picasso stayed there from mid-September to mid-November 1946 and produced many works. He left 23 paintings and 44 drawings in trust to the town of Antibes.
Located in the heart of the old town of Antibes and overlooking the sea, the former Grimaldi castle, now the Picasso Museum, houses a collection of works created on site by the master in the fall of 1946 and enriched over the years. Among them, 44 drawings and 23 paintings, of which La Joie de vivre, Satyre, Faune et centaure au trident and Le Gobeur d'oursins are the most famous. Also on display is a series of ceramics made by Picasso in his Vallauris studio. In parallel, the museum brings together major works by Nicolas de Staël, Germaine Richier and the couple Hans Hartung/Anna Eva-Bergman.
