In memory of its poetess, the town of Tarascon erected a statue in her honour and named one of its squares after her.
Elisabeth 'Alexandrine' Brémond (29 October 1858, Tarascon - 22 June 1898), better known by the name of Brémonde de Tarascon, was a Félibran poetess. The recurrent themes of her lyrical poetry include the contemplation of Nature, the link she maintained with the History of her region and the expression of her feelings as a woman; her verses express her enthusiasms as a young girl and her happiness and disappointments as a woman: love, hope and despair as well as amazement at the idea of Beauty.
