Place Forum des Cardeurs, 13100 Aix-en-Provence
With its many bars and restaurants, the Place des Cardeurs is an essential part of Aix-en-Provence life.
Corresponding to the site of the Jewish quarter during the Middle Ages, Place des Cardeurs was not created until 1963.
An island of insalubrious houses criss-crossed by narrow alleyways was demolished to make way for this new space.
Lined with rehabilitated classic houses, it has featured a fountain by Jean Amado since 1977.

The Cardeurs parking lot lies beneath the square.

Despite its recent construction, the Place des Cardeurs blends in perfectly with the architecture of the town and has become an essential meeting place in Aix-en-Provence.
