Place des Deux Frères, 06190 Roquebrune-Cap-Martin
In the heart of the medieval village of Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, this must-see square with its central olive tree offers a panoramic view of the Mediterranean.
Mind you, it's not the famous two-thousand-year-old olive tree!
"Roquebrune slipped, a broom stopped it".

The legend of the broom tree, according to which an earthquake in the 7th century precipitated the rocks towards the sea and that a sprig of broom interrupted the fall where the village now stands, clinging to the slope, is borne out by the surrounding environment. The arched cliff to the north of the village, the boulders in the square and those scattered a little lower down, all bear witness to a tectonic collapse. However, there is no evidence of this, let alone the dating of the alleged earthquake. Let's just remember the poetry of the legend, a pretext for a lovely festival at the start of summer, where children are honored and the Roquebrunoise identity is asserted. It's also a promise from nature to offer visitors extraordinary scents, flowers, panoramas and trees!
