A charming little cobbled square where you can't help but smile when you see the famous card game between César (Raimu) and Panisse, immortalized in bronze in 1991 by sculptor Eric de Saint-Chaffrey.
Born in Toulon on December 17, 1883, Jules Auguste Muraire, known as Raimu, was one of the great "sacred monsters" of French cinema in the 1930s, a pioneer of talking pictures discovered by Sacha Guitry and later Marcel Pagnol's favorite performer. Raimu is best remembered for his portrayal of César, Marius' father, in the "Marseilles trilogy": "Marius", "Fanny" and "César", and of the deceived baker in "La Femme du boulanger".

He was a member of the Comédie-Française.
