This cross-border project, based on 5 artistic proposals in the Roya valley, promotes the conscious protection of the land and the environment through contemporary art. "Roya, Eur(h)ope" by the Stalker collective is a fictional work created near the hamlet of Libre.
Founded in 1995 in Rome, the Stalker collective pays particular attention to marginal realities, abandoned territories and areas undergoing transformation, which it traverses on foot, creating actions and devices that interact with the context, the inhabitants, the imaginary world and the archives of individual and collective memories.

The "Roya, Eur(h)ope" project, conceived by Giulia Fiocca and Lorenzo Romito, members of the collective, has its origins in the discovery of an archaeological site, Cabo - the ruins of a Saracen colony - along an ancient transalpine road near the French-Italian border. The site is located near Libre, in the commune of Breil-sur-Roya, and is accessible from the hiking trail linking Breil to Airole. Here, the artists are activating a fiction based on a fragment of a Roman stele dating from 212 AD that Storm Alex is said to have brought to light. It bears the inscription of the Antonine Constitution, a founding legal act establishing the principle of citizenship for all the inhabitants of the Roman ecumene.

"Roya, Eur(h)ope" is part of a wider project launched by the Stalker collective in Rome in 2018, called Planetary Citizenship. It proposes the creation of a European Way linking Lampedusa to Calais, now called the Way of Freedom, and the celebration of a World Day of Planetary Citizenship on 21 April, the anniversary of the founding of Rome.
