The Prud'homie de Pêche was built in 1930 and has since been the seat of the industrial tribunal of the maritime district of Martigues, an institution dating from the 15th century.
It was in the 10th century that the first industrial tribunals appeared in Marseille. That of Martigues, founded in 1791, is one of the oldest.
In 2003, it was also one of the most powerful since it had 600 maritime registrants.
