It name came from old communal schools, there were until 1889 at number five and seven.

Below the street, in the left clambing, there is a community center.
All the houses from here, on the east side were built in the second ramparts enclosure of the village.
The door called “Porte de la Colle”, (down the street) allowed to enter inside the old village.
