Oratory of Saint-Louis
Saint-Louis was born in 1214 in Poissy and died in 1270 in Tunis. Louis IX (future Saint Louis) was crowned king at the age of 12 after the death of his father Louis VIII. His mother, Blanche of Castile, was regent until 1235. Louis IX is said to be very pious. He listened to two masses every morning, recited numerous prayers, knelt 50 times before going to bed and imposed harsh penances on himself. He organized two crusades that earned him the respect and consideration of the Pope. He was canonized by Pope Boniface VIII in 1297 and became Saint Louis for posterity.
He is celebrated on August 25.
