Oratory of Saint-Roch
Saint Roch was born in Montpellier in 1340 and died in Voghera (Italy) between 1376 and 1379.
He probably studied medicine and worked to treat the sick during the black or bubonic plague epidemic. He eventually caught it and withdrew to a forest so as not to contaminate others. Only a dog brings him bread stolen from his master's table every day. The latter, intrigued by the behavior of his dog, discovers Saint Roch.
He is the patron saint of carders, vineyard workers and land workers. He is honored on August 16.
