Located on the heights of the medieval town, this garden communicates via a picturesque trail with the modernist Villa Noailles and the St Bernard garden. The castle St Claire belonged at a time to the American writer Edith Wharton who created an impressive ensemble of terrace gardens in which she planted rare subtropical species. Most of them are from South America, Africa and Australia and bloom all through the year like the cycads, birds of paradise, musa trees, coral trees, aloes, yuccas, lantana and a rich collection of salvia.
Located on the heights of the city of Hyères, the Castel Sainte-Claire Park is one of the three large public gardens of the city. Once the private property of the American novelist Edith Warthon, it is now open to all. Everyone can come and appreciate the beauty of the numerous and rare subtropical species that make its reputation.
- The town of Hyères boasts a remarkable botanical heritage, as few other towns can boast such a wealth of botanical treasures. The Parc du Castel Sainte-Claire, or Parc Sainte-Claire, is one of the town's 3 large public gardens. Once the private property of American novelist Edith Warthon, it is now open to the public for exhibitions. You don't need to be a botany buff to appreciate the beauty of the many rare subtropical species for which it is renowned. Connected to the Parc Saint-Bernard by a footpath, it is also located on the heights of the city. A visit to both sites offers superb panoramic views and an unforgettable experience of nature.
