Created in October 2021, this modern sculpture dominates the valley from the pointe de l'Aiguillon. Permanently located on the footpath, you can't miss it!
Antony Gormley is a world-renowned British artist whose sculptures focus on the relationship between the human body and space. In 2021, the BRUUUR association is commissioning this statue to "celebrate life, love and friendship" and thus give a concrete sense of community to this popular summit, much frequented by tourists and locals alike. Linking art to mountain landscapes, two concepts that are not all that different, by advocating contemplation and love.
This statue, planted directly in the ground, weighs 915 kilos. With its interlocking volumes, it represents two human bodies that come together to form one, depending on where you stand. The artist describes his work as "an attempt to object to the integration of human consciousness in geological time. The work gives form to the acceptance of our own fragility in relation to planetary time".
