The Commanderie de Sainte-Luce is a group of buildings of great architectural quality. It combines the characteristics of a vast Provencal residence from the late Middle Ages.
The building's history is strongly influenced by religious history. First it housed the Templars, then, after the dramatic episode of their suppression, the Order of Malta.

The building's portal, which has been fully restored, retains its late 15th-century flamboyant decoration. The building itself is arranged around a courtyard with a well. The west facade features mullioned windows, topped by an extensive moulding motif. At the corner of this facade and the north facade is a hexagonal tower housing a spiral staircase.
Arcaded loggias provide access to the ground and upper floors.
The north facade, built in 1587, features decor typical of the Arles Renaissance. The windows, originally mullioned but modified in the 18th century, are framed by fluted pilasters that are reminiscent of the Antiquity.
The building originally belonged to the Knights Templar, a military and religious order founded in 1119, fought over and suppressed in the early 14th century. Of the building's four sections, one probably dates back to the 13th century, two to the 15th century and one to the 16th century.

Restoration work was carried out on the building in the 1980s, and although it is usually closed to the public, it does open for special events.
