Located on the Place Pierre Rivault, the stele commemorates the sacrifice of four local children who died for France during the Second World War
The Bormettes stele is one of the memorials to be found along the Chemin de la Mémoire (Memory Trail) designed by the commune. On this soberly erected stone are 3 names: Pierre Mazières, Pierre Rivault and Léonard Turc.
Three names, three lives, three tragic and different destinies, but driven by the same common force in the service of France.
Enlisted in the FFI air force, the Resistance or the navy, they were cruelly shot down or died accidentally during the years of relentless fighting between 1940 and 1945.
These young victims, the oldest of whom was 26, used to frequent the neighborhood. This tribute will keep them here for a while longer.
