This sundial, by an unknown artist, dates from 1773. It bears a reference to a restoration in 1905. Its motto, written in 18th-century grammar, invites you to reflect on the passing of time: “You who remember the past, remember that everything passes as I pass.”
This Louis XV-style dial only shows the hours of the afternoon. This can be seen from the hour lines, which only start at 12:00, and from the fact that the hours of the late afternoon are very close together. A distinctive feature of this dial is that it indicates the half-hours with small spears inserted between the hour lines, which are also in the form of spears.
