This clock face, located on the bell tower of the Church of Puy-Saint-Pierre and dating from 1994, is engraved and painted on plaster in the lancet polar style.
It bears the motto: “Time leads to eternity. Those who know how to make good use of it will find happiness.”
This sundial, which declines in the afternoon, has numbered lines at the ends. Its style is polar lanceolate: this means that it points towards the North Star and is parallel to the Earth's axis of rotation. In this case, the time is marked by the entire shadow of the style. This style is placed in the north-south plane. The angle of the style with the horizontal plane is equal to the geographical latitude of the sundial's location. It is said to be lanceolate because of the spear-like shape at the end of the style.
