Château Hill, once a fortified town razed to the ground in 1706, was transformed into a park in the early 19th century to attract and settle foreigners.
In 1821, the town council decided to create a public garden there, in response to the growing need for a place for winter visitors to stroll. The aim was to create a romantic and attractive space, in response to the growing number of foreigners. The park became a place to stroll and relax, designed to attract and welcome visitors.
