The Church of Saint-Symphorien-les-Carmes

The Carmes fathers settled here in the second half of the 1200's. This location at the time was outside of the walls of the city, near the gate "Portail desInfirmières". The church was rebuilt during the papacy, a vast nave lined with side chapels was added and consecrated in 1520. The magnificent convent buildings were destroyed during the French Revolution.
