The garden shed houses one of the island's wells.
At this well, groundwater is pumped for agricultural use (market gardening and nurseries) and then stored in a 4,000m3 reservoir located near the cemetery (station 3). Following the water shortage of 2003, pumping is now limited to 60m3/day in order to preserve the resource.
A temporary stream, also known as the Garonne, runs through the middle of the island, collecting rainwater and channelling it to prevent flooding.
