468 metres long, the Parpaillon tunnel links the departments of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and Hautes-Alpes.
t was built between 1890 and 1900 by the military engineers of the Alpine army to create a passage for a strategic military route.

The ruins of an old guardhouse can be seen near the tunnel.

The south side of the tunnel, accessible from Condamine-Châtelard, is accessible via a track reserved for 4x4 vehicles.
