Eglise Romane de Saint-Trinit, 84390 Saint-Trinit
Romanesque church of the 12th century and classified as a historical monument since 1915, the magnificent building is a perfect example of the Romanesque architecture of the region.
Originally, the church consisted of a short nave with two barrel vaulted bays held together by double arches resting on pilasters on backsplashes, a square choir bay covered by a cloister arch vault bearing a square campanile with a semicircular bay, and a pentagonal apse vaulted in the cul-de-four.
From its exterior architecture one can admire the balance of the volumes and the perfection of the fittings. Most of the interior ornamentation is concentrated in the choir bay where two of the four pointed arches that support the vault are decorated with an antique frieze; these arches rest on high relief bases carved with Atlantean and animal representations, and the sanctuary is decorated with corynthian chapitols at the top of the pilasters.
