Le Village de Méthamis, 84570 Méthamis
Built on a rocky promontory, the historic village of Méthamis stands at an altitude of 380 metres, overlooking the Gorges de la Nesque canyon.
This peaceful village, inhabited since the Neolithic period, underwent a significant rural exodus at the end of the 20th century.
A quintessential Provençal village, Méthamis is a delightful place to stroll, whilst exploring its religious heritage: the 12th-century Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul with its unique three-arched bell wall and gilded wooden Virgin Mary, the recently restored 15th-century Sainte Foy Chapel, and the small Sainte-Anne Chapel located in the hamlet of Les Bastides with its covered washhouse from 1868 and its fountain.

On the outskirts of the village are the remains of the Mur de la Peste (Plague Wall), a dry stone barrier built to protect Provence from the plague that arrived in 1720.

Méthamis thrives once again, through agriculture and the quality of life it offers. It is a charming getaway to discover in any season.
