Chateaudouble finds its origin in the existence of two castles which were built above the actual village, at the very place where the cemetery stands, as well as on the left bank of the Nartuby Gorges. The old square tower , the only remaining part of the Chateau registered as historic monument can still be seen on the south side of the town .Building technics applied at that time were based on the use of small limestone stones laid on regular bases as well as regular angle wall ties with rusticated stones. The first tower level is crowned with a vault and the north west façade features a central doorway. It is rather difficult to determine when this tower was built, either during the XIIIth or the XIVth century. Entrance free.
