Built to the east of the medieval town between 1878 and 1880 for Alexandre Reynaud, founder of Las Fabricas Universales in Mexico City.
Just three years after its completion in 1883, its owner completely redesigned his ‘building’ to model it on the recently constructed Villa La Roseraie nearby: adding a floor, a hipped roof decorated with bull's-eye windows.

In 1895, the villa became the property of Antoine Signoret and underwent a major refurbishment, including the exterior and interior décor, based on a design by Grenoble architect Francis Girard. The north and south façades feature striking architectural decoration that sets the villa apart from its surroundings: alternating rectangular and semi-circular pediments, frames, and ornate cornices with modillions and tables.

The south façade, now divided into sections, is further embellished by an elegant metal veranda opening directly onto the park via a horseshoe staircase made of grey Chapelue stone.

Inside, the creation of a new bathroom decorated with earthenware tiles combines clusters of irises and a frieze of wisteria, in a stereotypical composition familiar from contemporary spa décor.

Since 1988, the villa has housed the Musée de la Vallée, bringing together the collections of the Émile Chabrand private museum (1890) and the Hôtel de Ville museum (1934).
