The most notable owner was Madame Keuyelan whose dog, Barry, feared the summer heat of the coast: a house was rented in Chamonix, where certain staff took turns to look after him for 3 months. During the War, the Castel was occupied by Italian, German and French troops. Madame Keuyelan being under house arrest in Grenoble.
