A village in the heart of a monument registered on the UNESCO world heritage list as a Vauban fortification.
The stronghold of Mont-Dauphin is part of the vast defense program undertaken by Vauban under the reign of Louis XIV. Built on a rocky promontory, it dominates the valleys of the Guil and the Durance. If the choice of the location was decisive, the defensive system was also based on the talents of the renowned engineer.
