This dial, which belongs to the series of sundials made by the painter Zarbula, is located on the main facade of an imposing house in the hamlet of Pinet de Puy-Saint-Pierre.
Dated from 1842, the author is easily identified thanks to his ZGF signature left at the top right.
It is a declining morning dial, engraved and painted on render, restored, with empennate and arrowed lines, and whose numbers are inscribed in a red band.
Its plane is parallel to that of the Earth’s equator, which makes it a so-called "equatorial" dial.
Its style (the metal rod) is polar bouleté: this means that it points towards the North Star and that it is parallel to the axis of rotation of the earth.
In this case, the hour is marked by all the shadow of the style. This style is placed in the north-south plane. The angle of the style with the horizontal plane is equal to the geographical latitude of the place of installation of the dial. It is said that he is upset due to the small metal ball that finishes him.
One can read the motto "Without the sun, I am nothing and you without God you cannot do anything"
This dial and the building have been classified as Historical Monuments since 1995.
