Synopsis:
When her father dies, Grace Pudel's happy, marginal life as a snail collector and avid reader is shattered. Torn away from her twin brother Gilbert, she ends up in a foster home on the other side of Australia. Dependent on her brother's letters, ignored by her guardians and harassed by her classmates, Grace sinks into despair. Until she meets Pinky, an eccentric octogenarian who teaches her to love life and come out of her shell.
