Investigation based on fabrics from a Roman barge. Conference led by Laure Meunier, scientific research officer at the Roman museums and theaters of Lugdunum.
The deployment of fabrics that ensured the watertightness of the barge at the end of the 2nd century AD allowed the creation of the largest corpus of Roman fabrics in Western Europe. A study is underway to try to determine possible uses before this final reuse, possibly including sails. What methods and comparisons can help advance this research?
