A painter close to the concrete art movement, Verena Loewensberg developed an original, rhythmic abstraction in which colors and lines harmonize to produce sensations of movement on canvas.
Initially trained as a weaver, philosopher and dancer, she lived in Paris in the 1930s, where she met a number of artistic personalities, including Sophie Taeuber and Jean Arp. Returning to Switzerland in 1936, she opened a jazz record store before devoting herself to painting.
