Every year, the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region hosts dozens of medieval festivals and celebrations that bring the golden age of troubadours, knights and fortified towns back to life. From Provence to the Southern Alps, via the Côte d’Azur, these events take place against a backdrop of exceptional beauty: hilltop castles, ramparts and historic squares. On the programme for these summer events: jousting tournaments and equestrian contests, costumed parades, troubadours and street theatre troupes, craft markets (featuring blacksmiths, illuminators and potters), as well as medieval banquets and pop-up taverns.
