Not-to-be-missed sporting events this Spring!

Sailing fans and Formula 1 devotees have plenty to look forward to this season, with highlights including the “Voiles Latines”, 68th Giraglia Rolex Cup (both in Saint-Tropez) and “Voiles d’Antibes” regattas, and Formula 1 Grand Prix races in Monaco and at the Paul Ricard racetrack in Le Castellet.

Spring is the perfect moment to discover the charms of the Mediterranean’s packed maritime heritage! From May 28th to 31st, an entire fleet of “pointus” (pointed-bowed fishing boats), feluccas, gozzos and tartanes from Marseille and Catalonia will be converging in the Old Port of Saint-Tropez for the “Voiles Latines” regatta held every year at the very chic and famous resort. In this outstanding setting, against a backdrop of pastel house frontages and red rocks bathed in sunshine, visitors can enjoy watching the races while savouring some delicious local specialities… And if you choose to prolong your stay in Saint-Tropez, you’ll also have front seats for this year’s 68^th Giraglia Rolex Cup. Created in 1953, this iconic race brings together top names from the sailing world for a series of coastal races and upwind and downwind regattas in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez.

Yet another top sailing event in the Côte d’Azur diary, Antibes will be hosting the 25th Voiles d’Antibes from June 3rd to 7th. A festive and artistic hub, acclaimed for its pretty marina and green cape home to many luxury villas, the town will be welcoming some of the world’s most beautiful yachts built prior to 1950, together with a selection of Classic Yachts built before 1976. Connoisseurs will love this colourful ballet of traditional and metric units that have forged the legend of international yachting since the late 19th century.

In Monaco and Le Castellet

It’s time to head to The Rock, aka Monaco! From May 21st to 24th, participants in the Monaco Grand Prix, one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious races, will be vying for poll position on the famous track built in the heart of the princely town in 1929. The event is a great opportunity to (re)discover Monaco’s thousand and one attractions, including Art Deco and Art Nouveau buildings, chic boutiques and palaces. During your stay, why not stop off at the Oceanographic Museum, harbouring thousands of marine species. Just one month later, drivers will be revving up for the Grand Prix de France at the mythical Paul Ricard racetrack in Le Castellet, between La Ciotat and Toulon, under the gaze of thousands of aficionados.
