The Aix-en-Provence Audio Library was founded on 17 March 1980. Its aim is to make literature accessible to blind or visually impaired people and those with motor or cognitive impairments.
It is run by the Association des Donneurs de Voix, a French charity created in 1972 on the initiative of the Lions Clubs of France. The association currently has 114 libraries across France managed by volunteers.
The Pays d'Aix Talking Library is run by a team of volunteers who give up their time to ensure a weekly opening on its premises, and to record new titles (potentially upon request).
