From balances to contours, from floats to twists, from bas-reliefs to monumental sculptures, Bruno Bienfait creates an abundance of work, drawing his inspiration from basic geometry (the line segment, the circle, the ellipse...). He uses different types of wood, from which emanate discreet fragrances, never losing his connection to the trees from which they came, and for which he has such respect and admiration.
Each piece, with its raw, uncluttered, balanced geometry, delivers visions of chemical or elemental organization, like the DNA chain that is the key to all living organisms' codes. The simplicity of his creations and their quest for the essential evoke the trace of the infinite.
Bruno Bienfait's work reveals something of the eternal link between chaos and form, through his desire to seek what we will never find: "where were we before, where will we be after?
"Also, in my artistic approach, I don't try to represent nature, a primordial source of inspiration for me, but I do seek to apprehend what constitutes and animates it. The result is a kind of primitive geometry, elementary figures, waves, spirals... Symbol-laden forms that try to express and structure this chaos.
