The CDHA was set up in 1974 in response to the wishes of a number of people, most of them Algerian repatriates, who wanted to ensure the preservation of documents in their possession relating to the history of Algeria up to 1962.
The historical archive centre for Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia is a public welfare organisation. It collects, stores and provides any documents, archives and testimonials about the French period in the history of Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia.
It hosts conferences and exhibitions on these themes.
The centre also welcomes student researchers and anyone with an interest.
