This is a small area that is hidden away above Ribiers on a mountain ridge. It attracts climbers who love nature and the calm and tranquility of wide open spaces.
The level of the routes is generally quite hard with few under 6a/b.The crag Pierre Impie is a large south facing spur that you can't miss.
The Essaillon crag is a small overhanging blade-like formation that is 20m high, north facing, and found just below the Pierre Impie Crag. This crag hardly sees the sun n the morning and in the summer (best between may and october). The climbing : steep or slightly overhanging-walls with physical starts. For high level climbers only, with some challenging on-sight climbing on routes which are hard to read. Grades : unconfirmed due to the lack of climbers in this area.

- Access: from the village of Ribiers head towards Sisteron on the D948. Leave the village and turn right towards Chatillon. Ther should be a farm on your right and you need to carry straight on along the forest track. To get to the Essaillon crag, take the track on your right from the car park just before the second to last bend. For the Pierre Impie crag, co,ntinune to the end of the track and it's a 10 min walk from the car park.
