The Château de La Buzine has been famous ever since Marcel Pagnol made it a central feature in his novel Le Château de ma mère (« My Mother’s Castle »). The mansion was built in 1867 and purchased in 1941 by Pagnol whose ambition was to turn it into a « City of Cinema ». The Château de La Buzine became the property of the City of Marseilles in 1995 and was designated a listed monument two years later.
