A 40-minute open-access snorkeling trip, allowing swimmers equipped with fins, mask and snorkel to discover the Mediterranean flora and fauna on a course marked out by educational buoys immersed in a protected marine area.
Making every depth a journey
Designed in six stages - marked by six buoys with underwater information panels - the La Palud-Port-Cros underwater trail invites visitors to discover as many marine environments, in the heart of a marine protected area. The trail begins gently along the beach. As the water flows by, the underwater riches are revealed: from a depth of 2m, the Posidonia meadow, where sea urchins nestle. Further out, you'll come across species that appreciate the darkness of the faults - anemones and sponges. Then there are those that thrive on small, illuminated rocky bottoms: girelles, rascasses and other starfish. Finally, we explore the deeper scree, home to groupers, moray eels and octopus. A concentrate of the Mediterranean, just a few palm strokes from the beach. All the environments of the Mediterranean are concentrated in this well-defined area, an educational playground where the attraction of life overcomes all apprehensions. In July and August, as visitor numbers peak in the middle of the week, we recommend a weekend visit. Possibility of jellyfish and swimming not recommended on strong Mistral days. An immersible brochure presenting the main species is on sale at the Maison du Parc.
Don't forget that you're in the heart of the National Park, and we ask you to be particularly vigilant to ensure that the island and its seabed remain intact.
Reminder: "From 19/06 to 20/09, access to the Var's forests is regulated to prevent the risk of fire. For further information: https://www.risque-prevention-incendie.fr/var/
