The estate of Palermo was the country residence of the Duke of Palermo (treasurer of the Pope) who had the country house built at the beginning of the 18th century (1736). The two farmhouses probably date back to the XVII century. In the 1950s, Albert Camus lived on the Palermo estate for three consecutive years. The estate has kept its agricultural vocation (cereal crops on 12 of the 15 hectares of land) and opened to the public in August 2016, after the bastide was completely renovated. The new owners run Palermo as a charming guest house, but they also wish to organise family, professional, literary and artistic events in this rare place, where such a soothing atmosphere prevails. Palermo is, above all, a place of inspiration and a remarkable "base" for discovering the Luberon and the neighbouring Alpilles.
