The Maison Flotte is a living cultural place in homage to the memory of Henri Flotte, former secretary of the town hall of Sanary.
Henri Flotte was born in Sanary in 1891 to a very old family.
It is therefore quite naturally, that he retired, studied and classified the municipal
archives with Barthélemy Rotger, historian and scholar. To give them a suitable place, he bequeathed his property to the commune to "establish the house of archives and reading". This was accepted by the City Council on 26 March 1986, very shortly after his death on 11 December 1985.
