Plage de Cavaou
"Plage Cavaou" in Fos-sur-Mer is a large, sandy beach, coveted by kite surfers, windsurfers and surfers when the wind blows!
Although the site is particularly reputed for its water sports opportunities, it is also large enough to welcome bathers and offers enough room for everyone to lay down their towel and surfing gear. The spacious nearby car park (500 spaces) and on-site facilities including a snack bar, shower and lifeguards, make this a popular family beach in summer.
As far as the decor goes, it is a far cry from the tranquil atmosphere of the little coves dotted along the coast: here, petrol tankers wait their turn to enter Fos port and the petrochemical plants visible in the distance lend the site a somewhat bizarre aspect. But despite appearances, "Plage de Cavaou" is awarded the "Blue Flag" for its pure water quality every year!
