The Théâtre des Halles - scene d'Avignon, is located in the heart of the city, in the former 14th-century Cloître Sainte-Claire. Historians claim that this is where Petrarch met Laure de Noves. In the early 80s, the site was converted into a theater.

Since 1983, the Théâtre des Halles has welcomed and accompanied artistic adventures throughout the year.

By listening to companies, directors and authors, the theater has developed a lasting relationship with an audience that it hopes will be as large as possible, and a loyalty to many artists.

As a director, Alain Timar also pursues a creative activity that has an impact both nationally and internationally.

As for the programming, it follows the same high standards: actors with a strong presence, dense works, and openness to other cultures. The shows we host are the fruit of an artistic partnership and resonate with the company's own creations.

Through the shows offered during the season and at the Off festivals, the team always maintains this course: to reflect and propose a vision of the ideal city, full of dreams, of course, but also of fraternity and humanism: a truly living theater.
