Variant for experienced hikers, IGN 3841 OT map essential:
Possibility of a long loop (approx. 8 h) with very varied landscapes and little frequented partly off-trail (still outside the National Park) by descending the ridges from the summit of the Nauque towards the east, towards the ridge of Scaffa, to reach beacon 223, then beacon 224 at the Pas de la Tranchée, bal. 222, then 238, the magnificent eagle-nest barns of Gauron (which require a small hook to enjoy the plunging view of St-Dalmas and La Brigue), cross the hamlet of Gauron barns, and return via a beautiful path in the forest to the Lac des Mesces car park (bal. 237, 236, 235).

Tourism info: The premises of Neige et Merveilles were once a barracks but also a hamlet called La Minière inhabited by miners who extracted silver lead from the mines nearby. Some galleries are being developed for future sightseeing tours.
