A short but intense itinerary! Also worth doing in summer, as you can enjoy the shade of the beautiful pine forest to the north of the village on the left bank of the Roya, and the superb panoramic views offered on the way back down to Breil on the GR 52A.

Go up along the Roya from the tourist office at Place Biancheri. Just before the Upper Bridge, take the yellow marked path, on the right in the bend, marker number 5. Follow this pretty path until it joins a wide track. Go up this track on the right. After a large bend, look out for a sign on the right indicating a footpath: follow this small path which climbs up the pine forest in very, very steep bends until you reach the high path of the GR 52 A (marked red and white). Take it on the right as you descend towards the village. You will stop regularly to contemplate the breathtaking panoramic views: be careful in some places, the path is cut into the rock, the void is close! Return to your starting point by crossing the historic village.
N.B.: You can extend your loop by taking the yellow signposted path on your left as far as the medieval watchtower of La Cruella, and return via the Irish path which joins the valley path, then via the Genoa gate, the chapel of Saint-Antoine l'Ermite by the south of the village: Allow an extra hour.
