  • This hike for seasoned trekkers offers gorgeous viewpoints of the Céans valley and of Orpierre's famous cliffs, which make it an exceptional rock climbing city.

  • 1 - Crossing the village
    Take the left path to go into the old village's streets (sign: "Suillet - alt. 1324 m - temps de marche 2h30"), following the GR signs (white and red).
    Turn right, going up the stairs until you reach a pathway above the village.

    2 - Going up to the Quiquillon Mountain
    Turn left to find the GR sign, then right ("le Suillet : 4,7 km")
    Follow the steep trail going up across the ramparts' remains, go by the " la Vierge " oratory (waypoint 47) and continue until...
    1 - Crossing the village

    Turn right, going up the stairs until you reach a pathway above the village.

    2 - Going up to the Quiquillon Mountain
    Turn left to find the GR sign, then right ("le Suillet : 4,7 km")
    Follow the steep trail going up across the ramparts' remains, go by the " la Vierge " oratory (waypoint 47) and continue until reaching a flat area, follow the signs carefully.

    3 - Viewpoint : go left to admire the view of the Céans valley, with its mountains, rocks and cliffs in the landscape. Below, you can admire Orpierre's clocktower and its roofs.

    4 - Going up the Béraude valley
    Go back on your steps and take the mountain trail.
    At the crossroad, go forward. From there, you will have a clear view of the landscape and will be able to listen to the flow of the Grand Béal river. Follow this path until the crossroad, from there go right toward " le Suillet, Trescléoux - Lagrand " (le Suillet - 1h). At the bend turn left and follow the GR signs (the path forward goes back to Orpierre).

    5 - Viewpoint : ridge at the summit of Suillet (1324 m)
    At the next crossroad, turn right until arriving at a beautiful ridge in around 400 m. If you look carefully, you will be able to see Mount Ventoux. Continue for a few meters until you reach the top.

    6 - Descent toward Orpierre - crossroad
    Go back down the steep slope to arrive at a crossroad, then turn right to Orpierre, now follow the yellow signs.
    Follow the same trail, be careful on the way down and watch out, as this is also a mountain bike trail.
    At the flat area, go forward and take the left trail, ignore the path on the right.

    7 - Viewpoint
    On the way down, you can admire the Chabre Mountain in front of you, and the city of Laragne in the distance, as well as the Saléon plateau.

    8 - Crossroad
    After an open space, go off the road and take a trail with yellow signs on the right. In the past, numerous vineyard were harvested here, which now became sheep pastures.

    9 - Return trip to the village
    Follow the path to the parking lot of the rock climbing site, then go down on the asphalt road along the buildings on the left. At a turn on the left, go forward and follow the trail in front of you. Follow the yellow signs carefully.
    Go left to reach a bigger path, and admire the marls on your right.
    Go on the road and turn right on the main street to go back to the starting point.
