Chalet des pisteurs, 05100 Névache
This snowshoe hike invites you to explore the magnificent Arras forest, an unspoilt natural setting near Névache. The route, accessible to all, offers a complete change of scenery through the snow-covered landscapes of the Clarée valley.
6 km round trip between Névache (hameau du Roubion) and Plampinet
The trail winds through the Arras forest and along the Clarée, offering a succession of enchanting but possibly cool landscapes.

FROM NÉVACHE :
Departure from the Nordic Chalet (Nordic area reception). Head east (towards Plampinet) along the pedestrian route that runs alongside the cross-country ski trail on the left.
After about 300m, take the Roubion bridge (caution: bridge shared with skiers, so be careful and walk on the right-hand edge to respect the grooming).
The path descends alongside the cross-country ski trail on the right. After approx. 100 m, you enter the undergrowth on your right and emerge lower down at the Pont des Armands (note: this is a shared bridge with skiers, so take care to walk on the right-hand edge to avoid damage to the grooming).
Cross the bridge and enter the undergrowth again just after the bridge on your left. After 100 m, cross the piste again (with care) to reach the undergrowth again. After 200 m, you'll find the piste again, which you'll have to walk along for a few dozen metres (on the left) before making a right turn to take a short climb ending with a left turn to continue flat out through the trees.
About 500 metres further on, after a short descent/climb to cross a stream, you head downhill again until you cross the cross-country ski trail again, to enter a section below the track, for just under a kilometer. Cross the track again to pick up the summer path, which gradually emerges from the forest to offer a view of the hamlet of Plampinet.
After about 3 kilometers of walking, you'll reach this traditional hamlet, nestled in the heart of the valley, with its authentic charm. We recommend climbing up to the little church, whose interior is full of paintings (accessible only on guided tour).
The return journey takes the same route, allowing you to admire the scenery from a new angle.

FROM PLAMPINET :
Leave from the bridge at the entrance to the hamlet.
Follow the cross-country ski trail for 200 m (be sure to walk along the right-hand edge of the trail to avoid obstructing skiers), past the cemetery to the little chapel. From here, leave the piste and follow the signs to the west (rural road heading up towards Névache).
After about 800m, the route crosses the cross-country ski trail and enters the forest below. Don't take the ski run, but follow the snowshoe markings for safety and to avoid damaging the grooming work.
You're now moving through the forest on a relatively flat surface, before climbing up on your left, crossing the cross-country ski trail and continuing to climb for about 50m. After a short descent/climb to cross a stream, you continue through relatively flat woods for 500m. You then come close to a cross-country ski trail, turn right before you reach it, downhill again, then left to follow the cross-country ski trail (walking on the right) for a few dozen metres before entering the undergrowth on the left of the trail. 200m later you come back to the trail, which you have to cross. 100m later, you emerge from the undergrowth to cross the Pont des Armands bridge. Turn left just after the bridge (be careful, the bridge is shared with skiers, so be vigilant and walk on the right-hand edge to respect the grooming), with a new small undergrowth to cross to complete the itinerary.
If you need to, you can return to the hamlet of Roubion: take the Roubion bridge (caution: this is a shared bridge with skiers, so be careful and walk on the right-hand edge to respect the grooming), then return to the pedestrian-racket trail that runs alongside the cross-country ski trail to the Nordic chalet (approx. 300 m away). After about 3km of walking, you'll reach the entrance to Névache and its many shops. A further 2km on the pedestrian/racket trail takes you to the hamlet of Ville Haute (church).
The return journey takes the same route, allowing you to admire the scenery from a new angle.

MARKINGS :
You'll come across a succession of purple and orange markers. In undergrowth, this can be reinforced with yellow and black tape for better visibility.

WELCOME COMPLEMENT
The snowshoe itinerary crosses the cross-country ski trail several times, so be on the lookout for skiers who may arrive quickly.
Respect the markings and take care not to walk on the ski runs (unless the markings indicate that you can), for reasons of safety and respect for the grooming work.
In the event of an accident, call 112, giving details of the route you are on and, if possible, your location, so that the first-aid team can come to your aid.
Snowshoe trekking requires a minimum of skill and equipment, even on routes marked by the piste service. Likewise, weather conditions can change rapidly in the mountains. Check with the piste service before setting off.
If you're a beginner, it's advisable to ask a professional to accompany you.

Marked routes in the Nordic area. You'll be guided by orange or violet markers, and in the event of an accident, the ski patrol will be there to rescue you.
