The village hill of Cairanne rises like a spur above the vineyards: after the chapels of Saint-Geniès and Notre-Dame-de-la-Vigne-et-du-Rosaire on the plain, the route climbs this spur, then, beyond the village, progresses slowly up to "the mountain", from where the view sweeps 360° over magnificent mountain scenery and the vineyards of Cairanne and Rasteau. On the way back, the route follows a path richly illustrated with beautiful panels from the Rasteau winegrowers explaining their art of winegrowing.
