In Guillestre, head straight from the square with the tourist office towards the Val d'Escreins via the carriage roads and then a forest track, following the signs for the ‘refuge de Basse Rua et Rif Bel’. The gentle climb progresses towards the remarkable Val d'Escreins along the wild Rif Bel torrent. On arrival, the Basse Rua refuge will satisfy the hungry and recharge the batteries for the return to the pink village.
