Descending route from the Col du Galibier to enjoy views of the Écrins massif and its glaciers. The first part follows the old, sometimes stony, dirt road.
From the Henri Desgranges monument, turn right along the old Galibier road (wide dirt track).
Cross the D1091 and take the path opposite down into the valley.
Cross the Route du Lautaret near the Torrent de Roche Noire.
At the Nailleau crossroads, cross the footbridge over the Roche Noire torrent, then climb up the GR 50 towards the Col du Lautaret.
At Col du Lautaret, cross the road and parking lot and continue on the GR 50 towards Pied du Col,
then follow the Villar d'Arène trail.
From Pied du Col, it's possible to catch up with itinerary no. 4 to polonger the exit.
