To connect Sisteron to Digne-les-Bains, this route favors the heights over the Durance valley. Staying true to the Gravel spirit, this choice offers a wild and aesthetic journey across smooth tracks and exceptional panoramas.
The journey begins in Sisteron, following the Riou de Jabron toward Entrepierres. At Les Andrieux, the trail veers east to reach Saint-Geniez, the gateway to the Haute-Provence Geological Nature Reserve. Cyclists then take the majestic Route du Temps to reach Authon, a hidden gem nestled in the Monges massif. The climb continues toward the Col de Fontbelle (1304 m). From there, the south-facing slopes (adret) reveal magnificent forest tracks, alternating between climbs and balcony descents. The descent toward the Duyes valley follows quiet lanes with expansive views. After passing the village of Thoard, one final climb leads to a last pass before plunging toward the Bléone valley.
Stay alert during the final descent; a very technical 50-meter section requires extra care. The arrival in Digne-les-Bains is a smooth finish along the riverside cycle paths.
